As part of its “Power of She” campaign, activewear retailer Athleta has created an incredibly inspiring video featuring 98-year-old Täo Porchan-Lynch, who is the world’s oldest yoga teacher.
Porchan-Lynch is partnered on many of her activities with Dr. Terri Kennedy, a yoga and mediation teacher, and together they travel the world and provide education on yoga. Kennedy also authored a biography on Porchan-Lynch, titled, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master.
Porchan-Lynch is not new to the spotlight and was described in an ABC interview in 2015, as “the real Forrest Gump” because of the number of well-known people she’s met and historical events she’s participated in.
Of French and Indian descent, Tao was born in India where she first developed an interest in yoga. Tao is a lifelong activist and marched with Mahatma Gandhi twice. During World War II, her family helped harbored refugees on the run from German invasion during World War II.
