While much of the fashion world veers toward a starker color palette, Prada’s ad campaign for Spring 2014 reflects the brand’s decision to go left with statement-making colorful pieces, including a fur coat recently spotted on Marc Jacobs on vacation in the Caribbean (see images below). Prada recently reported less than stellar 3Q13 earnings results, blaming slowing sales in Europe and China so it will be worth watching if the rebellious burst of color revives the brand or causes further damage.
Shot by Steven Meisel, the campaign includes models Ola Rudnicka, Sabrina Ioffreda, Julia Bergshoeff, Maarjan Ridalaan, Anna Ewers and black model Cindy Bruna, noteworthy because her inclusion marks the second season in a row Prada has cast a woman of color in a campaign. Prior to the Autumn 2013 campaign, the label hadn’t used a woman of color in an ad since Naomi Campbell in 1994.
